Malakan’s son among nine lawyers called to Sabah Bar

KOTA KINABALU: Ceaser Mandela, the son of Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Clarence Bongkos Malakun, was among nine new lawyers admitted to Sabah Bar yesterday by the High Court here.

In proposing Ceaser’s petition for admission to the Sabah Bar before High Court Judicial Commissioner Ravinthran N. Paramaguru, pupil master  Datuk Gordon Leong said Ceaser obtained his Bachelor of Laws Degree from Queenary University of London.

He said Ceaser did a one-year pupillage in legal chambers at Lim Guan Sing and Co.

The representative of Sabah Law Association and Senior State Counsel Nor Asiah Mohd Yusof from the State Attorney-General Chambers raised no objection to their applications.

In year 2012, the petitioner obtained his Master of Laws of Professional Legal Skills from City Laws School University, London, he said, adding that Ceaser is also a member of Honourable Society of the Middle Temple and was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales on July 28, 2011.

Malakun, who is Institute of Development Studies Sabah Chairman, his wife  Datin Seri Panglima Sylvia, and family members were among those present to witness the ceremony.
