MIRI: Boulevard Shopping Mall will be holding the Boulevard’s Acoustic Music Band 2013 competition at the mall on Dec 14.
Jointly organised with In Tune Piano, the competition is open to all persons irrespective of age, race or gender, where participant(s) may put up a solo or band performance of four persons.
The competition is a perfect platform for music enthusiasts to showcase their talent, Boulevard Shopping Mall and Imperial Mall marketing manager Eric Jong noted during a press conference yesterday.
“We are scouting for local talents and this competition would be the perfect avenue for them to showcase their talent,” he said.
As it is an acoustic band competition, only plug-in acoustic guitar, keyboard, cajon drum, djembes and other hand percussion, which have to be prepared by the participants themselves, are permitted.
Every participant (or band) has to perform two songs, where the songs can either be in English, Malay or Mandarin and one of the songs must be a Christmas song.
Participants can also sing their own self-composed songs.
Every participant (or band) will be judged by their instrumental skills (which carry 20 per cent of the marks), singing (20 per cent), synchronisation (25 per cent) and overall performance (35 per cent).
The champion will walk home with a cash price of RM500 plus a trophy and certificate, the first runner-up will receive RM300 a trophy and a certificate while the second runner-up will be presented with RM200 plus a trophy and certificate.
Five consolation winners will each receive RM50 plus a trophy and a certificate.
Registration forms can be obtained from and submitted to the Boulevard Shopping Mall information counter.
Closing date for registration is on Nov 30 before 5pm.
