KAPIT: Billboards calling on Kapit folk to keep the division a green zone or free of Covid-19 cases have been erected at various strategic locations here.

Initiated by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing and the Kapit District Council (KDC), the billboards can be found near the KDC office, Kapit New Bazaar roundabout, as well as market places in Song, Kapit, Sungai Asap, and Belaga.

When contacted, KDC walikota Lating Minggang pointed out Covid-19 is not going away any time soon.

“Hence, a continuous awareness campaign drive needs to be undertaken in order to prevent complacency from developing in the minds of the general population. The Covid-19 threat is still there and the dangers of another wave coming are very real. Therefore, the threat about another wave coming must not be taken lightly,” he warned.

He said the billboards seek to remind the people of the collective responsibility to strictly adhere to the Conditional Movement Control Order dos and don’ts in order to keep Kapit a green zone.

Lating added this included observing personal hygiene, sanitising hands, social distancing, avoiding crowded places, and using face masks.

As of yesterday, there were no Covid-19 positive cases here despite quite a number of persons under investigation being quarantined at Rumah Temuai II.
