20 individuals arrested after NCID raid on entertainment outlet in Batu Kawa

Police rounding up the suspects inside the entertainment outlet during the raid.

KUCHING: The Sarawak Narcotics Crime Investigation Department arrested 13 male and seven female suspects after raiding a private room of an entertainment outlet in Batu Kawa here at around 11.30pm on June 27.

In a statement from the department today, the suspects are aged between 33 to 52 years old and comprised of all local males and all female Chinese nationals who work at a massage parlour here.

During the raid, packets of drugs believed to be ketamin weighing around 1.72 grammes were found on the table and inside one of the suspect’s pants pocket.

Police also believed that one of the drinks (7ml) inside the room had also been mixed with drugs.

During a drug test, 15 of the suspects (11 male and four female) tested positive for drugs.

The remaining six suspects (two male and three female) including the male owner of the entertainment outlet however tested negative.

All of the suspects admitted that they were at the entertainment outlet for recreational activity and had received their drug supply from the owner of the entertainment outlet.

The owner of the entertainment outlet later told police that he bought the drugs via banking in and would collect it at a specified location set by the drug pusher.

All of the suspects are currently under lock-up at the Siburan police station for further action.

The case will be investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952; and Regulation 3(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020.
