KUCHING: A 12-year-old boy died after he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding and rammed into a telecommunications pillar at Jalan Kolong Matang, Padawan near here around 1.30pm yesterday.
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the deceased has been identified as a student, Rahmat Aidil Zainal from Taman Malihah.
“The deceased was heading towards Taman Malihah from Batu Kawa when he lost control of his machine, veered to the left of the road before hitting the pillar and landing in a ditch” said Alexson in a statement.
He said the deceased who suffered serious head injuries was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from Sarawak General Hospital.
The case, he said, is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The body has since been transported to the hospital’s morgue for further action while the damaged motorcycle has been sent to the Padawan district police headquarters.
