Emart Tabuan Jaya introduces self-checkout counters in East Malaysia.

KUCHING: Emart has opened its largest supermarket in Sarawak at Tabuan Jaya here featuring East Malaysia’s first self-checkout counters.

“Today (Friday) is indeed a very special day for all of us here at Emart Group. We are very thankful to many for being with us along the way and finally Emart Tabuan Jaya can start welcoming customers,” said Emart Kuching region person-in-charge and senior manager Phang Kang Wai in his opening speech during the soft launch yesterday.

“Emart Tabuan Jaya is a new-concept supermarket that offers a whole new experience to customers.

“Aside from a wide range of products, there are sections offering sushi, bakery products, ice-cream and fried chicken,” said Phang.

Meanwhile, an Emart spokesperson said customers can now go online to register as members as well as check member points as the supermarket is embarking on a digitalisation drive.

“Emart supermarket is digitalising service delivery to enhance shopping experience for customers,” she added.

Emart Tabuan Jaya is having a three-day soft opening sale until July 5. Its official launching is expected to be held in September.

Opening hours is currently 7am to 11pm daily due to Covid-19 pandemic with plans to offer 24-hour shopping.
