PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of National Unity (KPN) is in the midst of finalising the National Unity Action Plan (PTPN) for 2021-2025 to complement the National Unity Policy which was launched by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Feb 15.

Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique said through PTPN, inclusive and comprehensive programmes would be implemented based on the strategic plans set out in the National Unity Policy and National Unity Blueprint 2021-2030.

“PTPN implementation will involve various parties including government agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) at all levels from the centre to the grassroots,” she said when delivering her New Year 2021 message through KPN official Facebook yesterday.

Halimah said she would be chairing an implementation committee to ensure that the three documents namely the National Unity Policy, National Unity Blueprint 2021-2030 and PTPN are effectively executed for the impact to be felt by all citizens at every level.

The three main objectives of the National Unity Policy are to strengthen unity and national integration based on the Federal Constitution and the Rukun Negara (National Philosophy); form a national identity with character, patriotism, the attitude of caring, tolerance, mutual respect and responsibility, as well as producing Malaysians who appreciate and foster unity.

Periodic reports on the status of the implementation of the National Unity Policy, including PTPN nationwide would be presented to the Cabinet, she said.

Meanwhile, Halimah said in an effort to develop and enhance community leadership, KPN has prepared the Rukun Tetangga Leadership Empowerment Plan 2021-2030, which would be launched by the Prime Minister this Sunday.

She said the plan was one of the strategies outlined in the National Unity Policy and National Unity Blueprint 2021-2030.

Under the Rukun Tetangga Leadership Empowerment Plan 2021-2030, four Rukun Tetangga Community (KRT) work agendas will be introduced to ensure that the KRT programmes are more structured and focused, star rating system will be introduced with the aim to improve quality of KRT management and the community will be encouraged to participate in volunteer activities, she said.

On early childhood education, Halimah said Tabika Perpaduan and Taska Genius Perpaduan would go through a rebranding exercise where  among others, teachers would be those with at least a Diploma in Early Childhood Education or its equivalent,  activity books for each subject would include elements of unity and nationhood and other languages such as Mandarin and Tamil would be introduced. — Bernama
