MIRI (May 15): The Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC) today handed over a donation of water dispensers, reverse osmosis (RO) water system and RO bottles to Miri Hospital.

MDDMC minister-in-charge Datuk Lee Kim Shin handed over the donation of 13 sets of tabletop water dispensers, two sets of floor-standing water dispensers, three sets of RO water system and 15 sets of five-gallon RO bottles.

According to Lee, the items were donated by a private company that wished to remain anonymous.

“In fact, this is their second donation to Miri Hospital. Their first donation, made last month, comprised of five units of Philips Respirators which provided a great help to patients in need of oxygen therapy.

“It was told that the donation was part of their corporate social responsibility initiative and they were more than happy to see the staff members of the Miri Hospital benefit from the water dispensers,” Lee said in a statement.

The Minister of Transport also expressed his hope that more generous donors could come forward and contribute medical equipment and personal protective equipment in view of the surging Covid-19 cases in recent weeks that was stretching the healthcare system.

Also present at the handover were MDDMC chairman and acting Miri Resident Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf and Miri Hospital director Dr Jack Wong.
