KOTA KINABALU (Feb 21): Petronas has lined up various programmes to commemorate its 50th anniversary.

Petronas Sabah and Labuan Regional Office’s General Manager, Siti Ayu Abdul Wahab said the theme for the 50th anniversary is “Together for Our Future”.

“We’ve lined up various programmes to commemorate this special occasion with Malaysians, one of these is through the Petronas 50 Dreams by making 50 real-life dreams of Malaysians come true,” she said at a Chinese New Year gathering with the media at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort on Wednesday.

She added that the Petronas team will document 50 unspoken dreams of those in need, weaving them into inspiring web films across seven festivities celebrated annually across the country.

“For Sabah, we have just fulfilled the dream of one Atiqah Lim, a 10-year-old girl from Ranau. She is suffering from Stage 4 ovarian cancer and her dream is to have a floral-themed birthday bash by the beach.

“Her dream came true when she celebrated her birthday here in this very hall, earlier this month,” she said.

Siti Ayu also mentioned the role of the media in disseminating Petronas’ corporate messages.

“The media has and will continue to play an important role in delivering our corporate messages,” she said.

“On behalf of Petronas, I would like to express appreciation towards the support given by media practitioners in providing coverage for our activities, especially social impact programmes that we carry out. We hope the relationship will further strengthen,” she said.
